The airline was founded on 1 August 1993 by Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani and his brother Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani as part of what they called “The Arabian Project” – an attempt to create a national airline out of existing regional airlines that had been established during their rule over Qatar until 1995 when they handed power over to their son Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani who became its president

Singapore Airlines is a full-service airline based in Singapore with its hub at Changi Airport. The airline was founded in 1958 as Tiger Airways, and became an independent company in 1999.
